Some fantastic achievements today at the Inter School Sports. Congratulations to our Pr 6 and Pr 7 teams who had virtually no place or opportunities to prepare for their events but left with quite a respectable collection of medals. Everyone took part in a positive way and they were all very encouraging and supportive to each other. We appreciated the time given by parents to come along  and for the willing team organised by the Parent Council who kept everyone well fed and watered throughout the day. Thanks also go to Mrs Rodgers for her time to get the teams together and for her input on the day with the points and scoring. A willing and enthusiastic team.

We were delighted to welcome 13 representatives from the “world of work” to our Junior Jobs Day. This was organised by our Developing the Young Workforce Working group and coincided with the latest parent information leaflet via schoolbag mail this week.

We were supported by – Jewsons, Morrisons Supermarket, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Housing Alliance, a Librarian from UHI, Rev A. MacLeod, PC Matthew Watson (Police Dog Handler), Fish Processor, SSE, Lifescan, Dietician, World of Work and A and I Quality Butchers.

Classes learned about the skills they need for their jobs, some of the equipment they use, what they do  and answered questions. We were given lots of freebies including piggy banks, water bottles, aprons, vouchers, leaflets and stickers. We saw an octopus, lots of big knives, pressed burgers, watched a salmon being cut up and ate some fruit.

A huge thank you to the local businesses and individuals who came along to support this event. We appreciated your valuable time and for helping us to learn about some jobs.
