Highlife Highland Libraries Summer Reading Challenge

It’s nearly the summer holidays which means it is nearly time for the Summer Reading Challenge delivered by Highlife Highland Libraries and the Reading Agency.

The Challenge starts on the 28th June and children can register to take part now.

It has been a strange year for us all but in libraries we are happy because we are open again and are able to run the Summer Reading Challenge in person. Children can collect the reading Posters, stickers and free gifts from their local library along with a pile of books to do the challenge.

The theme this year is Wild World Heroes, a nature-themed Challenge that will inspire children to engage with environmental issues.

How the Challenge works

  • Children sign up at their local library and receive a Wild World Heroes collector poster
  • Children set a reading goal and borrow and read library books of their own choice during the summer, collecting special stickers to complete their poster and extra incentives along the way
  • Children who complete the Summer Reading Challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal
