Dores Beach Trips
We had a fantastic time at our trip to Dores Beach and the sun was shining although it was a wee bit windy it was great not to have any rain. We are a lucky bunch! The children went round three different station one being the field where we played a variety of parachute games and circle games.
Children also had fun playing and throwing stones in the water. They also went for a wee walk along the beach each collecting interesting stones and other things they found on the beach and took them home in a wee bag to show mums and dads.
Also while walking along the beach we were lucky enough to see some boats and it was very wavy out their. We like the nice view of the water and all the mountains. Who doesn’t love a wee view of Loch Ness!! We unforunately didn’t see Nessie but we looked very hard!!
We also had a wee trip to the park where we loved playing on the swings, the climbing frames and exploring for insects using magnifying glasses so we were very busy!
After all that fun and exploring it was time for a well deserved snack and we had definitely earned it. We were very hungry and as a special treat we got a packet of crisps, a carton of juice and half a banana.
The bus trip was also very exciting for the children. Some had never even been on a bus before and we had two double deckers so everyone got the chance to sit upstairs!
Lastly we would like to thank all parents/ friends/ grandparents who came on the trip and made it so successful!! The children had a great time as did the staff and many children want to go back again tomorrow! Thank you very much to all the children for being so well behaved on the trip! A BIG PAT ON THE BACK TO EVERYONE!!!

On Monday afternoon the children enjoyed a visit from Generation Science where they found out lots and developed their knowledge of day and night and how when its night time here in other places in the world its daytime! The children where able to see that the side of earth facing the sun means its daytime and the side facing away is nighttime.
We really enjoyed Benny and Jack being in teaching about the sun and moon and earth.
SCN 0-06a:- I have experinced the wonder of looking at the vastness of the sky, and can recognise the sun, moon and stars and link them to a pattern of daily life.

This week we’ve already been super busy and learning lots of interesting things, we have some tadpoles in the Nursery that we are going to watch how they grow and develop the next few weeks and learn how to take care of them to make them grow up and become frogs.
We also had another new arrival during the Easter Holidays but this time in the Nursery Garden… our very own mud kitchen this has been a big hit with all the children in the garden using sand, stones, sticks and leaves to create some delicious dishes.
This week our learning focus has being symmetry. So we’ve being learning what it means and taking lots of opporutinites to create our own symmetrical picture through free flow play and art activities. Here is some of our work.

Pupils are invited to come to school on Friday wearing ‘sports clothes’ and bring a donation of £1 which will be added to the National Sports Relief fundraising effort.
Last week in Nursery we were busy making up our own stories. Some of us went on a story walk to the willows, which we made into a dinosaur cave and then to the Sensory Garden, which became the jungle in our imaginations. We told stories through our role play and saw all sorts of dinosaurs and animals, using brilliant language to describe them.
Others of us have continued to enjoy using the puppets to tell stories.
We have also made up some stories as a class.
“The People Who Went to the Beach” by the Butterflies
Long long ago there was a beach and there were crabs on it. People came to the beach, they had swimming costumes on and the children made sandcastles on it. They made a sandcastle and it was bigger than the nursery. People came out of the water and the crabs nipped them. Nip, nip, nip. they felt sad. The people went back into the sea and they felt better.
They came out of the water and they went home and a shark came. He jumped to their house. The shark opened the door with a magic key that opens everything. The shark was as big as the house and he was going to eat them allup.
A policeman comes, a thin policeman. He put the shark in an animal cage and he took the shark to the forest.”
There was a Shark who Swallowed a Goldilocks by the Ladybirds
Once upon a time there was a boy called Goldilocks and he was tired. He was on a plane to Germany and it wa a long way. He landed at Germany airport and he put on his swimming trunks and went for a swim in the sea.
A shark came and swallowed him up. Goldilocks went into the shark’s tummy. A swimming dinosaur came and swallowed the shark. The dinosaur went to the land and a bear swallowed the dinosaur! A dragon then swallowed the bear! A crocodile swallowed the bear. A big blue whale swallowed the crocodile.
Suddenly the whale sneezed and they all tumbled out of the shark. They all came out.
They all lived happily ever after.
We have also been enjoying retelling our story of the Month “The Gingerbread Man”. We have added our own ideas to the story too in our Floorbook. Here’s a few of our creative ideas!
” The gingerbread man was sad ‘cos it was raining. He might melt and fall to the floor, like an ice-cream”
“One Aurora princess started to chase him too, then a white van chased him…”
“The Gingerbread man ran to Asda’s where he found Mason. He said to Mason ‘you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man’. He ran to the shopkeeper in Asda. They said ‘I want a little bite and they ate him all!’ ”
World Book Day 3.3.16
We have had great fun today. Some children dressed up as their favourite story character and some brought in their favourtie stories. We had visits from “the biggies” (P5, P6 and P7) who came and read to us during free play.
