A very busy week for primary 4/5 as usual.
Mrs Hilferty was working with some groups, doing that magical thing that she does…
We were looking at the features of a newspaper article. How do you know it’s a newspaper article, and not a story/recipe/poem etc? The children were trying to find an article with ALL the features.
Introducing our Class Representatives!
Health Promoter Samuel
Pupil Council Josselyn and Lily
Eco Schools Representative Caelan
and Junior Road Safety Officer Robert
We had a session with our reading books, trying to think of big, fat, juicy questions, for when we had a discussion about the books.
Skinny questions are just straight recall of fact, (eg ‘what colour was the boy’s jumper?’) but fat questions make you think or express an opinion. (eg ‘ How would you have felt if this had happened to you?’) This is very tricky, so we spend a long time on this in term 1.
Finally, on Friday, we did some Problem Solving with toothpicks. Can you solve the problems? Ask your children for the solutions if you get stuck…
Remove ONE toothpick to make 3 perfect squares
Make this wrong sum correct by moving only one pencil. (Your brilliant children found 3 ways to do this!)
