Today we had a brilliant Gruffalo themed forest session! We read ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson at snack time and did lots of activities based on the story. The children turned in to “owls” (or “just birds”), using their seats/mats as wings as they flapped about our base camp. Some children participated in building a “log pile house” for the snake in the story. After tidying up, we went on a search for the Gruffalo himself and explored the woods. We moved in different ways, pretending to be all the animals featured in the story. Unfortunately we didn’t find him today… maybe next week!
