Well done to Calum and Eve (and all the Cross Country team!) who ran so well at the South Highland Schools event today. The boys team were second.

We had a great workshop with Chris and Debbie from Youth Action.  They  helped us conclude our Substance Misuse topic with a variety of different stations to go round i.e. most to least caffeine, Bingo, Body Map, Drunk Goggles and a quiz. It was a helpful way to go over some of the information we had learned.

Parents/ carers are encouraged to choose a healthy sustainable mode of transport and avoid driving to ease parking congestion.  Please remember not to park in the school car park, at the Lochardil Hotel or Lochardil Pharmacy. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Sphero Robots at STEM Hub

We had a creative team building workshop at the UHI STEM Hub this afternoon. We used I-pads to programme our little spherical robot. Firstly, we worked on distance, angles and speed to manoeuvre around cones. Then we used a variety of materials to create a chariot. which would attach on to the Sphero. (foil container, plastic cups, wooden sticks, sellotape, straws, wheels, axle etc)  The finale was the Chariot race at the end! Well done to everyone for super cooperative skills and patience at the testing out phase!

We appreciate the support of our parent helper and PSA today.

HOPSCOTCH Theatre Company – We started our day week with  an excellent performance about Children’s Rights. This helped us to understand how important our rights are and the consequences of not having them. The performance was enthusiastic, energetic and funny. We all understand what SHANARRI means now! (safe, Healthy, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, Respected, Responsible and Included). This was a good way to for us to remember how valuable our rights are. Great singing along with the catchy songs!

IRA Tour

We were made very welcome today at the IRA and enjoyed seeing round the school. Our sixth year guides were helpful and we spotted some familiar ex Lochardil faces around the place since they didn’t get out on their Sponsored Walk. We look forward to meeting Mr Fyffe and some of the older pupils for  a question and answer session next term. We are going to be part of the largest year group the IRA have ever had – just like our time at Lochardil. Good to keep the record breaking going!

A big thank you to all our House and Vice Captains who came along to support this important event. The Kirking is a blessing given to the city and Council. The tradition goes back hundreds of years and involves a procession around the town and  service at the Old High Church. There was a reception at the Town House after. We proudly flew the school flag and enjoyed being photographed and filmed by lots of interested by standers!

It was also good to see Jack, James and Callum there representing other youth organisations in the city.
