P2B enjoyed a special furry visitor to the class on Friday.  Her name was Stella and she is a therapet dog.  Her owner Maureen told us all about the special work she does helping people who are lonely or anxious.  She was very good with the children and they loved petting her and reading her a story.

We took part in Yellow Day to raise money for the Highland Hospice. Look at our lovely and bright outfits.

P2B carried out a survey to find out what different types of pets pupils have in P4 to P6.  We discovered that the most popular pet is a dog, with 45 pupils having one.  We also worked out that the difference between the number of pet dogs and the number of pet cats was 20!  We recorded our results in tally marks and then created a big bar chart on the whiteboard.

P2B were learning about 2D shapes and their properties.  They were also practising their cutting and sticking skills too.

Well done to this weeks star writers, Daniel, Grace, Ava and Matthew.  They wrote super instructions for how to clean a hamsters cage.

Well done to Emilia who was our Star Award winner in December 2017 for always doing her best and presenting all her work beautifully.

Look out next week for our February Star Award winner.

This week P2B had a visitor called Simon from the SSPCA.  He came to talk to the children about what the SSPCA do and how they help lots of different types of animals.  The pupils really enjoyed his visit and liked asking lots of questions.

We will be having another visitor in a few weeks but this one will be ‘furry!’  Look out for more information and pictures coming soon.

Mrs Simpson lost her 2D shapes.  Primary 2B kindly offered to help find them and made “Wanted” posters to put up around the school.  They drew the shapes and wrote about some of their properties.  Luckily we found them!

Thank you P2B!

Primary 2B  have been learning about different types of pets and what they need to look after them.

Grace Watt brought in her Enjoy-a-ball trophy to show the class.  Well done Grace.  What a star!

P2B have been learning about 2D shapes.  They went on a shape hunt around the school to see what they could find which were shaped like a circle, square, rectangle or triangle.

Glad to see so many happy and keen faces back in primary 2B.  Looking forward to a hard working term!

Paired Reading

Primary 5/6 came to read with us today. They read us a Road Safety book and then we has discussions with our partner about ways we can stay safe on the roads! It was lovely seeing the younger children learning from the older children. Good work everyone!

What a week!

Well done to Emilia for earning pupil of the month for beautiful presentation and always trying her best! We have had a busy week in primary 2, we have been learning about Ramadan and we made Ramadan cards! We also went to Vue cinema to watch Cars 3! Everyone had a great time and represented the school excellently! We have also been learning our songs and actions for the Nativity! Busy times for primary 2! Here are some photos of us having a quiet golden time, making some pictures with paints. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Diwali!

Primary 2 started learning about Diwali today for our Winter Festivals Topic. We learned a bit about what Diwali means and how it is celebrated, through this we discovered that some Hindus decorate their skin with Henna designs. We looked at different designs online and then made some of our own using pencil first and then metallic paint to enhance our designs! Don’t they look great?

Bonfire Night!

Today in Assembly the Primary 4s reminded us that we need to stay safe around fireworks and bonfires! Here is a poster to read through with your child in order to help them remember these important rules!

Taking Care of Our Teeth

On Monday 25th a Dental Nurse came in to our classroom to talk to us about her job and give us some advice on how to take care of our teeth. She was very impressed at how much we all knew about keeping our teeth clean and we all got a fancy, new toothbrush to take home.

WELL DONE! to Roddy and Harry for taking part in the Baxters 5k fun run, at the weekend. We are all really proud of you.

HOPSCOTCH
