While our P7s are enjoying a taste of academy school life, tomorrow will be our turn at Lochardil for all our classes to move up to their next class for the day. This is an opportunity to meet their new teacher, be part of their new class setting, and enjoy learning with their peers.
The news was shared in person by Mrs Kellacher for almost all classes, and by telephone to P1 & P4 parents, just for a heads up. Pupils will be given a letter to take home with them from their new class tomorrow so all our parents/ carers have all the important information in writing, so check the school bag mail!
NB: Classes are formed by date of birth (in line with Highland Council policy), with consideration given to other factors such as history of composition, and Additional Support Needs. Class composition and staffing is subject to change at this stage so all pupils and parents must be made aware of this and be prepared for change if required.

I am super proud of our gymnasts after winning so many individual and team medals this weekend at the Highland Regional Schools Competition! Lochardil Primary also won Best Primary School for Level 1 & Level 2, and Level 3, which saw us bring home the shields overall!
After an extremely long day our pupils really did us proud by showing fab sportsmanship, teamwork, strength and encouragement, manners and enthusiasm throughout, while looking fabulous adorning their medals . Huge thanks to Hazel & the coaches that train our pupils every week, and to Sophie, Aileen and Hazel for the coach support to each team (& showing me the ropes too) on Sunday! I’ll be back flipping my way in to the next comp! Delighted to see the parental support so strong at the event, so big thanks to you all too.
All three teams now travel to represent Highland Region at the Scottish Schools Finals in Perth on 20th March. Exciting times ahead! Well done gymnasts & good luck!
Well done to our P6 & unders & P7 &unders football teams last week and the previous week who did us proud participating in the Scottish Schools Football Junior Sevens/ Soccer Sevens Tournament. Our Junior Sevens team achieved 5th place, while our Soccer Sevens team reached the final in their tournament and could not have done anymore, 0-1 in extra time against a strong Cradlehall team.
All our footballers represented themselves and our school fabulously and should hold their heads high. Well done team and huge thanks to our dedicated parent coaches & support.

Children whose 5th birthday falls between 1 March 2016 and the last day of February 2017 are eligible to enrol for our next school session starting on Tuesday 16th August 2016.

At Lochardil Primary we will be enroling children every day next week, Monday 25th January – Friday 29th January between 9am & 10am or between 2.30pm and 3.30pm at our school office.
Please bring with you:
- The completed enrolment form (or we will have forms available to collect and complete)

- Proof of your address – proof of council tax only
Our school is capped, and places are given to children living within our catchment area. If you are out with our catchment, please enrol in your local school then consider if you need to make a placing request for our school. Should a placing request be submitted, the Council will seek to take account of any extraordinary personal circumstances. Placing request forms must be submitted to: Care and Learning Manager, Highland Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX.

Parking is continuing to prove an ongoing issue and unnecessary stress for us at school. I wrote to parents/carers last term about the need for safe and considerate driving habits. We have tried to appeal to your learning styles –
Visual – signage, physical yellow zig zag markings, cones
Auditory – speaking at meetings and events,
Kinaesthetic – approaching those flaunting the rules by tapping on windows, speaking to people. Having a community Police presence.
However, observing arrivals and departures this term in and around Lochardil Primary, I’m afraid to share we are still not being successful in achieving a safe environment for all our pupils. So…
Is this you? Do you recognise who this is? If yes… please can you have a turn to try to share the importance of what we are trying to do and why. No matter how late you may be, how quick a drop off you are doing, how little time you have to pick up, no child’s safety is worth the risk!
Our JRSO will be out and about to hand out flyers to parents and carers. They are passionate about their role and duty of care so please listen to them.

A busy end to a successful 2015! Enjoy the pics (they really are worth sharing even though a wee bit delayed). Our carol singing choir raised £76.70 for the charity Clic Sargent. There was a surprise visitor to the P1 Christmas party! P1A & P1B were very lucky receiving class gifts of lego! We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas service at the Christian Culduthel Centre where we were treated to an original sharing of the Christmas Story from Out of the Box using their fantastic puppets and skilled staff. Thanks to Rev MacLeod & Rev Nimmo for welcoming us and leading the service. Huge congrats to our star Mrs Murray who was awarded the prestigious Community Award from the Parent Council as recognition and thanks for her dedication to the outdoor developments and all her hard work at Lochardil Primary. We also enjoyed a visit from MFR’s Ginno Conti to collect the money raised and gifts collected to support the MFR Mission Christmas appeal, £176.50. Well done & thanks everyone! Our wee stars shining bright!

We ended 2015 on such a positive note with many achievements and celebrations to be proud of. There was such a strong sense of togetherness, community and pride, which reflected our school motto ‘Share and Care, Work and Learn.’ We have had a super start to the New Year and I’m looking forward to our exciting year ahead. We all can’t wait to see what it holds for us and look forward to you sharing our learning journey!
Wow! What can we say. The entertainment this week has been off the scale! We are super duper proud of our wee stars who well and truly owned the stage and certainly got our feet tapping to their Christmas songs. Definitely a few X Factor contestants for the future!

Nevermind X Factor, the Cute Factor was definitely out in force today at our fabulous Nursery Christmas Sing-a-long! I absolutely loved having all our nursery children and staff sharing their songs together today, and seeing the joy and pride it brought to many faces in the audience. A huge well done to all involved, what an amount of work, and it was clear the children loved every minute. Thanks to everyone who managed along today to support the children and staff, and for your very generous donations for our chosen charities! We will let you know the total asap. Photos to follow!
Thanks to Broom House group for the fab kick start to our festive fun – dressing in the Christmas spirit! We all loved it! Some of the effort for outfits and hair do’s were superb. Well done folks! Huge thanks to our kitchen team who provided us all with a delicious Christmas meal! The puddings were incredible!!

Last week we thoroughly enjoyed a performance from Duo B!zart. They are a Belgian Duet that provide an exposure to classical music in an unconventional way through storytelling, games, song & magic. They are the bizzare duo! We were excited to learn we were the 1st ever school in the Highlands to have them perform! Check out our pics to see the fun.

Apologies to those awaiting this online version, we’ve had a few technical glitches but got there in the end.
We are a group of P5 friends that wanted to do something together and help others in our local community. We chatted about a number of ideas with Mrs Kellacher, and then our Lunchtime Enterprise group was formed, with MFR ‘Mission Christmas’ as our goal!
We researched the charity and found out from MFR that 1 in 3 children are living in poverty in our area. We were so shocked, and devastated to think the number was so high and that so many children might not be able to celebrate Christmas like we do. So we are here to help.
We’re asking you to buy an extra present this year that we’ll give to a disadvantaged local child to make their Christmas morning special. We’re looking for new and unwrapped gifts suitable for children and young people aged 0-18 years, and you can donate at our school. We have a donation box in our front reception awaiting your lovely gifts this week! Please pop by if you have time!

MFR Mission Christmas Appeal
Remember it is Christmas lunch in school tomorrow! Wear something festive and enjoy the yummy meal cook has planned for us!
Woo woo we did it!!! Massive congratulations to our tennis stars today for winning the competition and bringing home the silverware!!! Our teams secured 1st and 2nd place after both reaching the final in the Tennis tournament at Inverness Leisure, while our 3rd team played fabulously well too. I was delighted to hear our children represented the school so well today, both with performance but also with conduct which is equally important. It is simply fabulous to see we have so many rising stars in the world of tennis in our own school.
Huge thanks to Lizzy and Mike for their superb and dedicated coaching, to Mrs Murray & Mrs Fraser for the organising, to Mrs Neil & Mrs Trail for supporting the teams to make this happen, to Inshes P.S. & Milton of Leys P.S. for letting us share the bus, and to all the kids that took part and had fun! Andy Murray we are hot on your heels 🙂 !
FYI – Our selected tennis players will be sharing a bus with Milton of Leys Primary & Inshes Primary pupils this morning to transport them to the tournament.
Pupils are asked to remember to take a racquet with them if possible. Good luck to our 3 teams participating!
Yesterday we had a wintery start to the week with an unplanned fire alarm in the morning. Well done to all the pupils, staff and visitors for evacuating the building promptly and safely, and for their patience whilst we waited on the Fire Brigade to arrive, assess the situation, and give us the all clear to return safely to the building. This did take a little time and I am aware that a number of pupils and adults did feel the chill. However, in this instance, the issue was recorded as a system fault as there was no sign of fire on the premises, and I am confident we followed procedure correctly to ensure the safety of all.
As always these drills allow us to improve our performance and with that we noted a few issues. The most relevant was the FOOTWEAR of the children. Please could you ensure you child has a pair of indoor shoes in school at all times – gym shoes or indoor trainers. We appreciate that slippers are comfy for the children however, as seen today they are not practical and therefore, will no longer be accepted as a form of indoor footwear. Please also ensure your child (no matter what age or stage) has a change of clothes available with them i.e. outfit, socks and underwear, particularly coming in to these wet and cold wintery months.
Also, any visitors to the school must report to fire point 5 and remain there. Any drop offs e.g. Nursery pupils (as this alarm coincided with the changeover of our Nursery pupils), pupils returning from appointments, lunch etc. must remain at the outside gate and NOT enter the school grounds until a member of staff shares it is safe to do so.
Many thanks for your support with this. Pupil, staff and visitor safety is paramount!
Carol singing, mince pies, gift shopping and Christmas cheer! I would say today’s Christmas Fair has certainly got us in the spirit of Christmas! Thank you to everyone involved and to all who came along to share the fun. What a fab turnout! We are looking forward to hearing the grand total raised (& the winners of those incredible hampers!!!) You all rock! Thanks folks 🙂
Rhona from Tempest Photography will be back with us next Thursday 3rd December at 9am to photograph all those gorgeous children in P7, P5, P5/4, P4, P3/4 & P2A who unfortunately never managed to have their photo taken when she was in last week as time run out! Anyone who was absent last time will also be able to have their photo taken this time. Say cheese!!
