Tain Badminton Team Competition

Well done to the Badminton Team who competed in a team competition in Tain on Friday. We are very proud to report that they all came home with a medal which is an amazing achievement as it was the first time that they had played together. A huge thanks to Mr Barrie for taking the team to Tain and looking after them so well. Special congtratulations to Sophie for her award, read about it below. Read Mr Barrie’s report below!

The “Count-back” kids.

Sophie Barrie P7, Abi Barrie P4, Aaron Boyd P6 & Iain Sillars P6 made up the school team which travelled to Tain Academy on Friday to play against teams from Milton of Leys, Merkinch, Loch Carron & two teams from Culbokie Primary School.

Lochardil started in a pool with Culbokie B & Merkinch. We beat Merkinch on games but drew with Culbokie B on games so it went to a points “Count-back” to decide who went through as winners of the pool. Culbokie won the “Count-back” so we went into the semi final against Loch Carron. The team drew with Loch Carron 3 games all so “Count back” to decide who went forward to the final.

L.C. won the “count-back”  but we had a 3rd-4th place play-off against Culbokie B. We knew we could get a draw from them and we did but could we turn the points “Count-back” situation around?

YES, a tough match but Lochardil got 3rd place over-all

A mixed doubles tournament was then played and Sophie/Aaron were runner up finalists with Abi/Iain being runner up finalists in the consolation tournament.

Sophie was awarded the tournament “fair play award” for her positive attitude towards her opponents and helping with umpiring and supervising some of the less experienced players.
